Digital literacy: why every school student needs it

Digital literacy: why every school student needs it

The computer stopped being just entertainment long ago: it is a working tool for today's students

Digital literacy means using technology confidently and safely: finding and checking information, creating documents and presentations, communicating online and protecting your data.

What does digital literacy consist of?

  • working confidently with a computer and files;
  • creating documents, spreadsheets and presentations;
  • searching for information and assessing it critically;
  • cybersecurity basics and protecting personal data;
  • good manners when communicating online.

Why does it matter already at school?

School projects, reports and presentations are increasingly created in digital form. A child who handles the tools with confidence spends less time on technical difficulties and more on the content of the work.

And the habit of checking sources and behaving mindfully online protects children from the main online risks.

How can digital skills be developed?

The best way is practice on real tasks: putting together a presentation about a favourite hobby, formatting a school report or building a simple website. That is exactly how lessons at iTerra Kids Academy are built: from practice to confident skills.
